As much as we are watching our children to see what they do with thier lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours.

A Swim Meet & Dance Party!

Last week was the last swim meet of the season.  The girls enjoyed playing with their friends during the meet.  At one point I looked up to see Isabella and her best buddy Becca raising the roof on a bench that they turned into an impromptu dance floor.  These girls were rockin' out and by the middle of the swim meet a bunch of teammates joined in on the dance party.

VBS

Summer for my daughters would not be complete without Vacation Bible School!  The girls and I attended VBS at our church last month and I am just now getting the photos up on the blog.   Needless to say we have been busy having fun this summer.
Isabella was happy to have friends at VBS and Sophia enjoyed having me as the teacher in her classroom.  It was a fun week and I enjoyed reading the bible stories to our class.  Here are photos from our VBS adventure....

Away Swim Meet

Rain delay, heat and humidity = party in the Schaefer van.   Upon arriving at the away swim meet, there was a delay due to thunderstorms.  Somehow our car became the party spot for 6 kids.  It passed the time quickly at least.  This swim meet was a rainy one!  The thunder did hold off long enough to have the swim meet, but everything was wet.  The girls had fun with their friends during the meet and enjoyed getting to check out a different pool.

First Swim Meet

Isabella, who is on pre-swim-team, LOVED her first swim meet.  Isabella had just learned backstroke the day before the swim meet so I was a little concerned when she was signed up to swim a 25m backstroke.  Here was my child who could not swim across the pool at the start of summer and was about to swim on her back.  Well guess what, she did great and made it across. Bella also swam a 25m freestyle race too!

At the end of the race, Isabella looked at the results and was excited to place (even if it was the 9th spot).  She is proud of her participation swim ribbon!

Pool Side Photo Session

These girls LOVE to swim!  Isabella is enjoying pre swim-team and Sophia enjoys learning to swim on her own.  Isabella AND Sophia learned to do handstands in the water and dive to pick up sticks off the bottom.  They love summer life at the pool, we all do!

In the 2nd swim meet Isabella swam in 3 races: a relay, a 25m back and a 25m free.  She scored 5th place in freestyle!

Sophia's swimming has also improved a lot this summer.  First,  Daddy taught her how to tread water.  Then Sophia started asking for "mommy swim team". I love teaching her how to swim and she has picked it up fast! She can swim freestyle and is working on her backstroke. Sophia's loves to swim deep in the water like a mermaid.  I love seeing my girls enjoy the pool as they become confident swimmers.
