As much as we are watching our children to see what they do with thier lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours.

This is a busy time in our lives that will be gone before we know it.  I love being involved in their lives and am glad that they both want me to be active in it.  One day when I am old and grey, I will miss the hectic pace of our lives, the sticky fingers, the runny noses, the time outs... but for now I will just slow down and appreciate each activity we are able to experience.  For this too shall pass.  I am eternally grateful for the time I have been able to spend with my daughters.  Now I am off to play in the snow with my daughters....

Lucky to have Lucy

We are lucky to have our little SPCA gem, Lucy. She brings joy and laughter to our family.  Our sweet kitty has discovered a few unusual places to rest around the house.  Take a peek for yourself....

Rolling into 2014

The girls rolled right into 2014 on their new pink scooters.  Isabella and Sophia enjoyed the relaxed schedule of winter break plus lots of fun activities.  Here are a few things that we did over winter break from school....

Family Fun Night Options by Isabella
Top Row:  Play Angry Birds; Kitty Time; TV Time
Bottom Row: Family center time in playroom; Books

It was a great winter break. We had lots of fun together.  I was sad to see them go back to school on Monday yet happy that they were excited to head back.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!  We have a pizza party at home on New Years Eve.  The pizza kit, which was a Christmas gift, was really fun!  Plus, the dough was delicious!  We rang in the new year at 10pm with girls.  We had a little count down, confetti poppers and sparklers.  Will and I actually managed to see (I should say stay awake) to see the ball drop at midnight.  Starting off the new year with my husband by my side is the best place to be.  2013 was a year full of family, love and travel.  Though we endured our own private struggles as all people do, we still found the silver lining. The good always outweighs the bad and our lives are full of love.  For that I am extremely grateful.

Christmas Continued

To top off our Christmas celebration, we headed up to Maryland.  It is always a nice feeling to catch up with family.  The girls enjoy their bedrooms at Grandmere & Poppys.  Plus, Isabella was excited to spend the night in Aunt Meredith's(old)room.  We were also able to visit my grandmother and family in the nursing home. I was able to get a photo of 4 generations which is pretty neat!

Home for Christmas

Christmas morning started before the sun came up.  Isabella, was up at 5:45am ready to head downstairs.  Per Schaefer tradition, we snapped a photo of 2 very excited girls at the top of the stairs.  The girls loved opening gifts and were surprised with all the presents around the tree. They had only asked Santa for one present each.  Isabella wanted a moving robotic kitty and Sophia wanted a 3 foot Rapunzel doll.  Well, once the girls opened those gifts from Santa they did not want to do any more presents.  So we enjoyed a nice breakfast followed by a delightful nap. We later resumed gifts and spent our afternoon enjoying family time by the fire.  It was a nice relaxing Christmas at home.
