As much as we are watching our children to see what they do with thier lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours.

Independence Day

"It's the 4th of Luly" per Isabella!  These girls were excited to decorate the house, have a photo shoot and see fireworks.  Sophia was recovering from strep throat so our weekend was pretty low key.  We enjoyed family time at home and ventured out to see fireworks in Goochland.  Good times and great memories.

July 1st- Home Swim Meet

July 1st was a home swim meet and the girls were excited to meet their older swim buddy they were assigned too.  Isabella and Sophia both swam in 3 events; 25m free and 25m back and a relay.

Here are a few more photos from the swim meet that were taken on my phone.  I was able to snag a few good photos since I was a timer for the swim meet.

VBS

The girls enjoy Vacation Bible School (VBS) especially at our church.  I helped in the pre-school room again this year but my girls were with the elementary school aged kids.  Isabella and Sophia enjoyed crafts, stories and songs.  On the last day of camp the girls performed their songs and Miss Sophia did not even have energy to raise her hands or smile...a few hours later we found out she had strep throat.  Poor dear.  It was a fun filled week of faith even with a few germs to share.

Isabella and Sophia also enjoyed helping to set up and take down VBS.  Isabella said she would give up pool time just to help our church.  Sweet girl!

June

June in a nutshell... marathon training started.  Our team is Nacho.  We attended two weddings, enjoyed lots of fun in the sun, swim team, float night at the pool and visited family in Maryland.  The girls love to swim and also love to dance at weddings. June flew by!

Our Tigersharks Earned 4 Ribbons

Last week was our 2nd swim meet of the season.  The Schaefer girls both swam in two events;  25 meter freestyle and 25 meter backstroke.  They had a blast not only swimming but hanging out with the team.  Isabella scored an advanced time in backstroke and will now be completing with the advanced swimmers in the next meet.  Isabella picked up 2nd place in backstroke and 4th place in freestyle.  Sophia did great and swim backstroke for the first time.  Sophia placed in both events scoring a 5th place in backstroke and a 6th place in freestyle.  Swim team sure makes the pool fun!

Visit with PopPop and The Best Day Ever

Someone special had the "best day of her life" last week.  Sophia said those exact words after the following occurred: she lost her first tooth, went off of the diving board at our pool for the first time and was moved up from pre-team to regular swim team!  That was a pretty awesome day indeed!  To top it off PopPop was visiting which was wonderful. While PopPop was here he enjoyed seeing all these firsts for Sophia and was able to cheer on the girls at their second swim meet.  While PopPop was here we spent one day exploring the city.  Lunch at Bottoms Up Pizza was neat since the trains went by over head.  The restaurant (and Richmond city) was flooded in 2006 during a storm and in the photo the girls are standing below the flood line.  It was taller than me! After lunch we enjoyed the canal walk where PopPop treated us to the 40 minute canal cruise.  It was neat to learn more history about Richmond and a cruise in the water.  The girls were tired after a week packed with fun.  We ended the week seeing PopPop off at the train station.  It was a fun week!
