Tangled up in Birthday Fun!

Sophia's magical birthday celebration began on Saturday November 3rd which was her actual birthday. Per tradition, we took Sophia to Toys R Us to pick out a toy. She ended up selecting a Dora phone and was excited just to walk around the store checking out all the different toys. That evening for dinner we had Chick FilA nuggets which the birthday girl requested...she also wanted them for lunch but we thought that would be nugget overload! We enjoyed presents, cake and lots of smiles on Sophia's 3rd birthday. The celebration continued on Sunday when we had a Rapunzel themed birthday party. The crafts and games went with the Rapunzel theme. The kids painted lanterns like in the movie Tangled. Next they got tangled in Rapunzel's hair, enjoyed a Rapunzel Pinata and were jazzed up with Tangled tattoos. Finally, the kids enjoyed a balloon toss before heading home. It was a fun birthday party and Sophia loved having her friends and family there to celebrate.

Trick or Treat

Halloween was a treat! Isabella was Tinkerbell and Sophia was Rapunzel. The girls participated in a parade and a performance with a few songs about bears. Most of Sophia's class did not participate but my little girl wanted to be like her big sister and she sat on the stage and performed with the best of them. She did great! Isabella, was overflowing with energy and getting annoyed that her wings were in the way. At one point she sat down behind everyone! During one of the songs Isabella belted out so loud that I could clearly hear my little Tinkerbell sing. It was a cute performance and a treat for Will and I to watch.

After the performance, Sophia and I went to a Halloween party with our playgroup while Isabella enjoyed a Halloween party in her class at school. After a fun filled morning the girls were tired, but too excited to rest. They could not wait to start trick or treating. We joined a few families in our neighborhood and watched the kids enjoy the evening. Isabella was eager for candy and ran door to door. Sophia was a bit timid and hesitant to take candy or even go to the door. However, after a few houses Sophia got the hang of it pretty quick. After an hour of trick or treating we came home and handed out candy. The girls enjoyed giving candy to all the kids who came to our house. It was a fun sugar filled evening!

The day after Halloween Sophia's class had their Halloween party. We also celebrated Sophia's birthday with cupcakes and she wore a special hat from her teacher. Sophia was so excited that I was in her classroom and gave me a huge hug when she first saw me. Sophia enjoyed having me in her class and I enjoyed being there!

Carving out time for Sisters

In our busy lives it is often hard to make time to see everyone that we love. So when an opportunity arises to be together it is a blessing. My sister and her fiancee Pezh came for a quick visit this weekend. It was so wonderful to spend time together! The nice thing about family is that no matter how long it has been, we always resume as if no time has passed since our last visit. I hope my daughters value their love for each other as they grow up. Having sisters is a wonderful thing!

Today we carved pumpkins and the girls opted for scary pumpkins over princess pumpkins. Isabella enjoyed cleaning out the gooey insides of the pumpkin. She thought the seeds would be perfect to feed the squirrels. Sophia on the other hand did clean a little bit out of her pumpkin but was not a fan of the icky insides. Since we are hunkered down awaiting Hurricane Sandy the pumpkins might provide us extra light should we lose our electricity in the storm!

I am proud to announce that Isabella can not only recognize her name but now she is also able to write it on her own! Way to go Isabella!!! We are so proud of you!! Isabella loves school and discovering new things every day!

Pumpkin Fun Day

I love the sights, sounds and smells that Fall brings. From the amber color of the maple leaves turning to the feel of a brisk fall day, this season is a delight to me! Thankfully my family feels the same way. We were able to relish in natures beauty this weekend during our trip to the pumpkin patch. The girls loved everything that the farm had to offer. They climbed the hay stacks, bounced off energy in the bouncy house, bumped along in a hay ride, slithered in the corn pit, rode a tractor train, and picked the perfect pumpkin! We all enjoyed a lovely fall day at Chesterfield Berry Farm.
