As much as we are watching our children to see what they do with thier lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours.

Apple Picking

Last week our playgroup went to Carter Mountain Orchard.  It was a steep drive up the mountain on gravel roads and poor Isabella got sick.  I am thinking she must have been car sick since this was the 2nd time in the past month it happened.  So after cleaning up a bit we were off to explore.  The Jonagold apples were ripe for picking and the kids had so much fun!

Isabella was eager to explore the orchard

Isabella said the apple was "delicious"!

Sophia was entertained with the pumpkin
A group shot of all the kiddos...notice everyone is looking in a different direction.  But hey, at least I was able to get a group shot.

Now you must be wondering what we did with our delicious Jonagold apples?  Well I made caramel apples of coarse.  The crisp apples against the sweet caramel was the perfect combination.  Yummy!

We are loving the cooler temps and spending lots of time outside.  Both girls love playing with the leaves and Isabella loves to climb trees.  Here area few photos of the girls playing around the house.

Happy Birthday Mommy

This year my birthday was extra special since Isabella was able to sing happy birthday to me!  Of coarse she put her own little twist on the song and it went like this " Happy Birthday to you (repeated about 10 times) and Happy Birthday to Mommy and Daddy, Happy Birthday to you!"  It was cute she included her Daddy in the song.

To start of my birthday weekend I ran 8.5 with the half marathon training team.  It was a good run with 2 brutal hills and I felt great until I wiped out on an uneven sidewalk at mile 8.  But that one little fall taught me a lot about myself.  I got up when I was down and kept going.  I finished strong despite my fall.  Years from now I will not remember the pain of the fall but I will remember how proud I was to finish such a long run!
Thankfully my friend Kelly had a 1st aid kit and helped me get cleaned up.  When I got home Isabella saw my hands and then went upstairs to get dressed.   Then she came back down with socks on her hands to be like Mommy. Later that day Isabella told me that my "Boo Boos were scary".
Later that daty, we enjoyed the beautiful weather outside and the girls had fun coloring their cardboard box...I mean house.
Sophia really enjoyed the chalk.  She colored for while then decided to drop the chalk out the window.
Isabella joined in on the fun too!
Sophia thought the blue chalk tasted good.
Sunday was my actual birthday and it was a nice low key day spent with my family.  Will made me one of my favorite dinners (crab cakes) which was delicious!  Having my family is the best gift of all.

A day in the life of the Schaefer girls

The girls have so much fun together everyday.    So I thought it would be neat to show you a little bit of what I do with the girls during the day.  First off , I tend to dress them in coordinating outfits.  Gotta do it now because eventually they wont want to match.  The girls enjoy a nice warm breakfast together , pancakes seem to be popular these days.  Although Sophia is a slow eater she always finishes her breakfast before Isabella.

After breakfast we head out of the house.  Most days involve a trip to the park but on this particular day we decided to head to Whole Foods.  To Isabella's delight there was a shopping cart just her size!  She had fun filling up with cart with snacks for Sophie.
After shopping Isabella sat down to look in her bag.  She was thrilled to get her very own small bag to carry.
Most days Isabella gets to play with friends but on this day it was Sophia's turn for a play date.  Sophia and Jeffrey are the same age so it was nice for her to be around someone her own age.
The girls enjoying a play date with Jeffrey.
Our days go by fast and I try to savour all the special memories made along the way.  There is nothing I would rather do with my time than spend it with my daughters (and husband, if possible).

Fudgesickles

After dinner last night the girls enjoyed fudgesickles but I don't think all of it went in their mouth.  Ha!  Look at the photos to see what I mean.

Thankfully bath time was right around the corner!

Scooter

Sophia is 10 months old now and is such a sweetheart.  Sophia loves to play peak a boo and snuggle.  Our Fifi is not crawling yet but she can get around.  She tries to crawl and is successful at going backward or turning around in circles. To move forward Sophia scoots on her bottom to where she wants to be.  Its pretty funny and cute at the same time.

Isabella joined the photo shoot with a hug for Sophie
Sophia is growing so fast thus has outgrown her car seat.  The car seat came in a big fabulous box that we knew would be fun for something.  Mr. Creative ( I mean Will) turned the car seat box into a little house.  The girls had so much fun in it!
Sophia loves to play with Isabella and it was cute to see them sharing the house together.

At one point I looked in the cardboard "house" from above and saw the sweetest things....Isabella had her arm wrapped around Sophia.  Its hard to tell from the photo but Isabella's arm is around Sophia.  Just precious!!

Who is the Princess?

This week Isabella walked up to a wedding photo of Will and I and replied "Mommy looks like a princess and Daddy looks like Halloween!"  I asked Isabella if Mommy was a pretty princess and she replied " No, Isabella is the pretty princess!!"

Another funny conversation I had with Isabella went like this...
Me:  How old are you Isabella?
Isabella:  I am 3, 7, 8, 9!!
Me: Oh really?
Isabella: Yes!

Where do they come up with this stuff?

Sisters

Having a sister is like having a best friend for life and we always tell that to Isabella.  My daughters adore each other.   It fills my heart with joy to see them having fun together.  Isabella loves to give Sophia big hugs, push her in the swing or highchair (it has wheels) and sing to her.  Sophia loves being pushed by Isabella in the swing and giggles with delight the entire time.  Sophia also enjoys splashing around in the bath with her big sister.  Isabella and Sophia have so much fun together.

I love my daughters and I am so glad they have each other as friends, siblings and playmates.  I feel like the luckiest Mom in the world to have them in my life.  I am very thankful to have the opportunity to stay home with my girls.  Thank you to my husband for making all my dreams come true!  We have a very blessed life.

A trim and a dip

Today Isabella got her 2nd hair cut ever and it was a father - daughter adventure.  Notice Will is sitting in the chair behind Isabella in the photo.  Isabella did great and was very excited to sit in a big chair .  She also enjoyed the fashionable zebra cape. Isabella said her favorite part was getting a lollipop!!

Earlier this week we enjoyed taking a dip at a friends pool.  My girls love the water and it was a treat for everyone to catch up with friends.  We have had a really fun filled summer.
Daddy - Daughter hair cuts!
So proud of her hair.  Isabella even requested a hair bow.
Cowgirl Isabella was excited to head to the pool.
